Anyone who uses Steam chances are someone used your account today! PSA: Steam is having serious issues with account security at the moment | PCWorld
Jokes on whoever gets access to my steam account. I hope you enjoy trying to find a game worth less than $2.00.
I wonder how many security breaches there are that not only we, but the companies themselves are not aware of .. if it happened to steam it can happen to anyone!
They had a pretty similar issue earlier this year. Seems like attacks on all the major gaming services is a Christmas tradition these days.
If some used my Steam account themed have to find something worth 4 cents or less if they wanted to make a purchase. I guess it's good I didn't cash in that Steam gift card I got today.
I guess that's why steam was cycling through languages for me yesterday. ---------- Post added 26th Dec 2015 at 06:56 AM ---------- That stuff is saved client side, not server side.
It might be the case, but at least it means a specific file that any hacker know exists has your credit card information (as encrypted as it is, servers got hacked, which i guess contain the keys) which again is dangerous if u'll get a malware
Actually, anyone who was logged on the store they were able to see other people's email adresses, phone numbers, PayPal email, credit card numbers.... Ect.
Frm what I heard, the credit card info was safe. What went wrong was that the server sent the wrong cache info. People didn't actually access other people's accounts, they just saw screenshots of it, so to speak. You can't see credit card info on your own account. They show "Credit card ending in ****5463" or the like. Similar with phone number. They COULD see your steam mail address, and your paypal address. But those do not, by themselves, allow you to pay or change info. And you couldn't actually use the other account, because it was just a cached image. It's bad (and I'm sure they're trying to get to the bottom of this. But no payment info was compromised, apparently.
You're right, only the last digits could be seen but having your email address and PayPal address made public isn't fun!
