Why does my laptop shock me when I hold it with one hand?

Every time I get up out of my chair, I pick up my laptop with one hand and sit it down on an end table, but every time I do, it shocks me. Sometimes it does this when I use two hands, as well. Why does it do that and is there any way to make it stop zapping me?

It's a revolt! Your laptop is starting to gain sentience!

In all seriousness, though--it's an electric leak and in my knowledge there's not a whole lot to be done. Chances are it won't shock you if you're wearing shoes.

If it's a cheap laptop, chuck it out, there's a short in there somewhere and can be extremely dangerous. If it's something more expensive like a macbook, replace the whole motherboard, battery and pick up a new charger.

Just think if it electrocutes you to death when you're watching porn, you have no way to explain it to your family :roflmao:
