People, I am going to install Windows Vista.

Yes, I, the Linux supporter. Why? Because I want to see by myself how bad it is. It is Windows so it can't be good, lol.

There are some features that I like, though. Like the new GUI, Windows Aero (copied from Mac OS X) and the new User Account Control (copied from Linux). But I think that its memory footprint is not worth the benefits... an idle computer with a freshly-installed copy of Vista Home Basic uses about 300 MB of RAM (without the nice effects running)

Well, I suppose I'll install it and see what happens.

It is kind of bad, it sucks when playing video games. Some of the features suck, like the Sidebar which is not worth my time. Just more memory taking up. Also when I bought the computer which had Vista on it, Home Premium, it was loaded with tons of crap software that I had to uninstall all of it!

I need a lot of stuff to upgrade with this computer I'm using now.

  3. This computer has Vista. It isnt that bad

I've heard enough scary things about Vista that I don't think I'll be upgrading any time soon. I might just get a Mac after my processor dies a fiery death.

The cheapest Mac costs $2,500 in Uruguay, so I don't think I'm getting one anytime soon. Love them, though.

Apparantly Vista is bad, I've never used anything other than Windows so I just use it because I know everything about it.

Tell us what its like Mia. (I hope I can call you that...)

I'm Fred, Crimson, but you can call me Mia if you want.

I'm posting this from Vista - so far, it looks nice and it has been fast but... it is still Windows, lol.

I'll update this thread as I get used to it.

Well, it looks nice, but it isn't worth the $200 plus it costs. It is still Windows, it still freezes and the User Account Control is waaayyyyy worse than Linux's (and Mac OS X's) very simple "sudo" authentication system.

It lasted like, 2 hours. Now I'm again running XP and Linux.

Actually Vista is really good. I absolutely love it, no problems for me. Thats if you buy a comp with it already on it though. If you download it to your computer, than it is gonna suck up your comp resources, unless your comp is pretty powerful.

I love my Windows PC (thats right I said it) and I wouldn't give it up. I would love a Mac though and I tried to install Ubuntu, but I was never able to get the partisions right, and I wasn't going to let it erase Vista off for Ubuntu so yeah. Ubuntu is cool though.

Well i bought this comp with vista already on it...i havent had any major problems with it....the only minor to average sized problems have been my GTA San Andreas game being really slow, so i had to put the resolution down....but that might be because of the graphics card on my new computer...also the my documents folder is WAAAAAY to hard to find for simple navigation...and lastly, the my favourite links side bar had all the links idsappear after aout 5 minutes and even tho i spent half hour looking for a ay to put them back, it wont let me....grrrrr....

I will say that i really like the upgrade to the games....solitaire and minesweeper have a great new look and some new features which i enjoy...so overall not bad for being free iwth the compputer
