Well have you? well at 2:30 this afternoon the ESA is launching a satellite to check up on the polar ice caps or something and you can watch it live here: http://www.esa.int/SPECIALS/Cryosat/SEMILVZNK7G_0.html
I've seen a few satellite launches before but unfortunately I missed this one. Mainly because I didn't find out about it until about 10 minutes ago. I'm glad to hear that CryoSat 2 was a success. I'm sure it is never fun to have your multimillion dollar satellite destroyed because of some failures.
I just moved to Florida several months ago, and had never noticed until last week, but apparently you can see launches at Kennedy Space Center from Orlando! I thought it would be too far away, but I was still up being a nocturnal/insomniac/night owl at 6AM and felt this rumbling vibration. Turns out that it was the Space Shuttle Discovery launching to go to the ISS. Pretty cool!
Got to see the Florida one Monday morning on our drive down. Just happened to look out the window at 3am or whenever the hell it was and go "ooooh pretty".
