So it looks like I won’t have my regular internet service for three week(why does a DSL line take so long to activate); but a can’t go that long with net access, does anyone know of any services that a can get while I’m waiting to get my DSL line turned on?

Public library / other free wifi hotspots

Check the terms and conditions on Cellular modems / 3G "sticks". You may be able to return them within 30 days for little or no penalty (as opposed to cancelling a 3 year contract)

If you can't find any internet, maybe you should spend your time looking a keyboard learning to type. ;D

That’s what happens when I don’t proofread my posts.

Crappy ISP? If you're like me then there isn't a whole lot of choices but I suppose you could try to mooch a neighbour's WiFi if you have a WiFi adapter in your computer. If they bothered to leave one wide open then they probably won't even know you're using it and what they don't know won't hurt them. Whether you think that's ethical or not is your choice.

3g sticks. here you can get a flatrate with them for a month for about 30 EUR. many of the companies have "trial offers" where you can return the stick after a month and do not need to pay for it (but the 30 EUR).

A few months back I picked up a cheap aircard off craigslist. I think I paid $25 for it. I have data service on my phone so I can just pull the SIM card out of my phone and stick it in the aircard.

I also have tethering on my phone so I can use it for internet access.

As others have said things about 3G sticks, what about tethering with your phone.

Many phones I've had have allowed me to tether. I just plug the phone into the computer, and have it dial #777, and I can get online.

I do that through my blackberry right now.
