So, I'm going to college next year, and I plan on going for game design. I have always dreamt of working for Nintendo, and as such, I'm working on a Legend of Zelda game. Anyone wanna help???

Well, I'm done with the items, and I'm working on mask ideas now. Any ideas for some new masks?

Well...how about a Fariy mask? not the Fariy Finding one, but one that slowly recharges your HP?

Ooh, are you using Zelda Classic? Include the Fierce Diety Mask! It's badass as hell. Maybe a cap that serves the same function as the magic cape in ALTTP?

What are you using to make the game (as in what programming/scripting language)?

I'm not actually planning on scripting the game for several years. For now, I'm just collecting ideas for it.

    Added to the idea pool.

    Already in there, but thanks!

What does the magic cape do, exactly? It's been so long since I've played ALttP, I've forgotten a lot about it.

Definitely. I go to the university that, in England, is generally regarded as the premier games creation university, and I know designers (mate of my brother), games artists (my best mate), games programmers (my brother). We've got one of the ex-coders from C&C Red Alert teaching here, in fact.

I'm actually doing a Bachelor of Games and Interactive Entertainment at university right now. =)

One suggestion: don't limit yourself. It's best to come up with new concepts and game mechanics than to simply think of sequels to existing games. The industry is in sore need of new concepts (like Portal), instead of the general mindset of "let's add this item to this game, and make a cool sword with +10 HP, and this new character".

I would advise you to think of new ideas, instead of simply going through the generic sequel process of new masks / etc for Zelda. Zelda is brilliant, but it doesn't need simple expansions.

    Good luck!

I'm not just adding stuff to an existing game. I actually have some ideas for a brand new LoZ game, if any1 would like to hear them.

OK, before I begin, I have two distinct warnings:

1.: This post is kinda long.
2.: Some of the details are sort of vague, just 'cause of the fact that I haven't thought of them yet.

The game takes place in (insert name here), roughly 40 years after Twilight Princess. The original Link, having aged considerably over these 40 years, makes only a minor appearance. The main character is Link's son, a 19-year-old with much of the same characteristics as Link himself. The game starts in, and a lot of the key events in the game take place in, the region's capital, Transcendent Town. I have brought back MM's time limit, but with seven days instead of three. Anyway, during the first week, you discover that a secret society is attempting to resurrect an evil...something, and has sealed off the exits of the town in an attempt to prevent anyone from interfering. You spend the first week trying to get out of the town, but all for nothing. At night on the seventh day, you walk into the main city square and are confronted by a young man, covered in a black cloak. He tells you that he is a part of the secret society responsible for all of this, that he is a traitor, and that, if you agree to help him, he will show you the way out of the town.

    to be continued...

    ...continued...

You agree to help him, and he leads you through a secret passage to the outskirts of the town. Afterwords, he tells you about the secret society and the evil...something that they are resurrecting, and asks you to do whatever you can to stop them. He then gives you the Oracle Harp, teaches you the Ballad of Time, tells you about the six temples outside the city (and what the secret society plans on doing with them), and then vanishes. You play the Ballad on your new Harp, and you are taken, after a brief cutscene, back to your house.

After familiarizing yourself with the town, you head to the temples and, one by one, you defeat the bosses in them. However, you fail to obtain the items hidden in the temple that the SS plans on using to resurrect the evil...something. Through deception and a well-thought-out plan, the SS get a hold of all six of the items and resurrect the evil...something. The game then takes you under the city, and after making your way to the middle, are faced with the battle of your life.
