My boyfriend and I just finished playing through it yesterday and loved it...I can't wait to give it a play through on my own. Quite a different story than Origins, but overall I liked the game just as much if not more. (Don't read if you haven't finished the game. ) Spoiler We romanced Anders and had a tough time deciding what to do with him after we figured out he was basically a terrorist :/.
I've only had two hours with it over the weekend, but based on that, I'm sold! Some interesting characters, the combat is awesome (Rogues are actually cool now, instead of a poor man's warrior) and I like the change of setting. Also, props to Bioware for adding more options for gay romance (or hookups: zevran is in there too for a cameo :icon_wink). I think I know how I'll be spending my time over the next few weekends! You do get to pick what happened in Origins (or import your save), which has minor effects (as in: if Alistair was king in your DA:O, you will get to meet him when the relevant quest omes up in DA2). But you are, in all cases Hawke, human survivor of the blight in Ferelden, and hero of Kirkwall (though there are male and female options). Kind of like Mass effect, where you're always Shepard, cosmetic differences aside.
My friend got it this weekend and she has already finished/ defeated (whatever you people do on these video games) it. She has been super excited. She likes the new game a lot!
I think the correct term is "beating" a video game. I find that in games like this one that's only the beginning, though. Once you know the basic layout of the story you can play it again and again, and make different choices to see where they lead.
Singleplayer RPG. All between you and the processor. And no monthly charges! (Hmm, I feel like I'm starting to sound like I'm a Bioware sales representative here )
