The omission of a gay pairing for Shepard became even harder to reconcile when BioWare's Dragon Age series allowed players the freedom to define the sexual orientation of their protagonists.

In interviews, BioWare heads Drs. Ray Muzyka and Greg Zeschuk have been responsive to the subject. "The team has its perspective," Muzyka told us during February's DICE meeting. "When they created the character, when they defined him. We're pretty open to how the team wants to define their characters. We go with what they like."

It seems the team is ready to try something different.

I honestly couldn't care less about these types of options, but it's pretty cool for sure. Plus I'm sure all you folks will like it. Personally, the romance parts of Mass Effect are the ones that interested me least xD But that's just me, it's an overwhelmingly amazing series, so I was always bewildered as to why everyone focused on the soft-core porn they could make in a videogame. xD OH WELL xD

But this is definitely a step forward

BioWare has always been pretty chill about the whole LGBT recognition thing.

Its not really something I look for in a game but the fact that it is in there is a bonus and does send a positive message.

It would appeal to a lot of people though, mostly role playing types and is nice to play a character that you can relate to more.

& hey who doesnt like a little bit of porn thrown in with their gaming XD

This is a nice feature but like others have said it isn't something I *need* for the game. Still though, it is a nice bonus but I would ather them spend there time elsewhere.

A much appreciated gesture, for sure. This should be coming out (no pun intended

) right after I finish DA2 and my hot and sweaty rivel-romance with Fenris.

On the other hand, I think it doesn't make a lot of sense. I mean: what is the sudden reason why Shepard can be gay now? Do I have to tell Liara she was my beard all along? Or do I have to replay the previous two as brooding closet-Shepard?

I demand a patch that makes man-loving an option in the first and second ones too!

Oh I was so miffed when I couldn't get it on with Kaidan. It was pretty fun totally rejecting Liara and Ashley every time they attempted anything though.

I've still got ME2 sitting in my Steam folder ready to downloaded.. need to get round to that.

I do not get why people dote on female Shepard so much, though. There's something in her voice that turns me off...

Jennifer Hale is a much better voice actor, IMO, than the male Sheppard.
