Okay, now that I got your attention, I want to mention that I am still using the Snow Leopard release of the Mac OS X operating system. If you use it too, I want you to look at your "dock" at the bottom of the screen. You know where the mail icon is? The one with the stamp? Well the other day, I noticed a little water mark -- there is an apple (the apple logo) with two concentric circles around it. I think there is writing at the top, but I can't tell what it is. Does anyone else see this? Does anyone know if it's a part of the icon, or if it's just an easter egg? Maybe I'm overanalyzing something really stupid and getting excited about it.
It could be either way... just remember apple mac build in Easter eggs in their software and hardware for years, since OS 8 that I know of. you just need to know where to find them and how to look for it. I haven't actually noticed the particular one you describe before either, since I'm not using mail but entourage.
Looking at it on my Mac, my guess is it's simply a "cancellation" stamp on the stamp, to make the icon a little more realistic.
@Chip yeah i also checked it... its part of the icon and not a Easter egg. it is in fact part of a stamp
