Default Programs: Bring to the table

Ok, I sort of looked around threw previous threads couldn't find one like this basically whats your best programs out there maybe like tutorials and of course I don't support pirating but you know. Or maybe even tutorials for useful things or tweaks to improve performance stuff of that nature I think you get the idea.

So:
Internet download manager (basically increases your download speeds by a lot by opening up different points mehh... look it up dont want to explain)
But whats cool is it also lets you download lots of thing not normally downloadable like youtube videos, if you have slacker you can download the songs most flash videos other stuff I cant think of right now

DVDFab (lets you backup your personal dvd's onto your computer) I have all my movies on my hdd or some of my favorites at least and some tv shows

Comodo (free) Good anti Virues software idk trust my word lol Free Desktop PC Security - Free Downloads Keep your PC Safe | Comodo

Hide Folders It what it sounds like and you can password protect the program so you know if anyone here has thing they dont want found you wont be able to find it unless you can open up the program which can be disguised

Peerblock (free) blocks lots of ip address PeerBlock

Piriform - Download CCleaner, Defraggler, Recuva, Speccy - Millions of users worldwide! has good stuff

anyways keep it going

As for anti virus, i'd go for avira... they are verygood and you can download a free version with a 1 year updates... once the year expires, just download a new version and install that to get another year updates. They catch most viruses that not even Norton or any of those well known anti-viruses don't pick up. Plus it is supper light on system resources.
Antivirus software solutions for home and for business

ESB Calculator and Unit Conversion for Windows ESBUnitConvert
Converts any form of measurement to any other form. A free tool and very useful.

Free Audio Extractor,Extract audio from video,Convert AVI to MP3, WMV to MP3, MPEG to WAV AC3 Audio extractor.
Extracts the audio tracks from most video formats and save it as an MP3 version. The free version lets you do only up to 3 or so extractions at a time. But i only extract one at a time, close the software open it again and extract the next one.

iBoot
tonymacx86 Blog: iBoot + MultiBeast: Install Mac OS X on any Intel-based PC
Think OS X is for apple only? Think again, with this free utility you can install OS X on your PC, provided you already have a copy of OS X. Just make sure you computer comply with the basic requirements, like memory, processor speeds and so on... May not work on an AMD processor. You can even install it on an external HDD and just boot up from that drive when ever you need to work in OS X

USB Show

Cheat engine perfect for hacking programs and winning any game.

www.file2hd.com i think its spelt like that. well that website can allow you to download any file that is on a web page.

command prompt,(IF you know how to use it) type "ipconfig /flushdns" gets rid of all traces of footprint like history in your web browser. (almost all of them, you still have to delete history)

VLC Media Player always gets installed shortly after a fresh OS install. It's free, it plays just about any file format, it is available on several operating systems and has a ton of features. It doesn't have the greatest UI or anything though but it does what it does and does it well.

Foxit Reader for Windows or Linux is a great PDF reader to use instead of Acrobat Reader which I find dreadfully slow and inefficient. Foxit loads quickly, doesn't use a lot of memory and does everything I need it to do when viewing PDFs (not that I do it often but when I do it is a handy program).

nLite is a program that allows you to build a custom Windows installation disc that includes up-to-date patches, drivers, etc. It makes reinstalling a breeze.

Audacity is a free (as in beer and speech) audio editing software package that does just about everything. I don't do a lot of audio editing or recording but the few times I've done it it did it well. There are a ton of features, more than I know about or care to learn how to use. It might be a little overwhelming.

Truecrypt is a wonderful open source encryption application. It can encrypt a partion, the whole drive, a virtual partion using a number of different algorithms. Don't forget your password because your encrypted data will be lost forever unless you picked a weak password and can brute-force it. When I was younger I lost some porn that I hid from my parents this way and forgot the password I used. No big loss but if it was actually important data then it would be wise not to forget your password.

Those are a few handy utilities I've used.

Truecrypt is nice I encrypted my hdd so I feel a little safer when leaving the house for long periods of time.
hmmmm.... lets think of some more

Well everyone should have Photoshop or in my opinion (for the simple editing I do its perfect for me)

Tuneup utilities - (its like ccleaner older brother) basically it lets you get a deeper scrubber down into all those place where its hard to get.

Any video converter - Exactly how it sounds it supports converting most formats but by default the ui is really dumbed down but its good for people who dont really know what file type they want

Dtlite - Perfect for mounting iso iv installed many games using dtlite

Some other programs I use that arnt so useful are

firefox thunderbird its a fancy email client thingabob

Rocket Dock its what it is it supports a lot of addons and custom options stuff like that

I have other but not really worth mentioning

XAMPP
apache friends - xampp
Want to develop your own website and test it locally on your own computer? This tool installs Apache and a host of other add-ons on your computer, turning your PC into it's own web hosting server. It does not affect your actual OS files, it resides safely within a single folder. What's more it comes with an e-mail web server to test all functionalities of your website. You can download server side scripts and programs like JOOMLA in it and it works as if you are actually running the site from a server. Pretty useful for development and testing before the final production is uploaded onto a real web server. This also has the ability to make a computer an actual web hosting server to serve client websites locally instead of paying for a hosting service. It is free and available for most OSes out there.

Camtasia Studio
TechSmith | Camtasia Screen Recorder Software, Home
Ever wanted to make your own "How To" video or tutorial or even want to capture anything on your screen. This is a very versatile software used by billions of people to make tutorials of any software out there. Has the option to only capture a certain part of the screen or everything. You can add your own narrative audio or even record yourself while you record your screen.

Toonboon (Studio (renamed to Animate Pro, Storyboard, etc.)
Toon Boom Animation
Ever wanted to create your own animation, Disneyp style or even manga style, or even your own episode of Ben10 or any other animation?
This is a create company. Studio (or as they now renamed it Animate Pro) lets your creativity runs wild. it includes functions as lip sync and many more. Simpely draw a few frames of a standard movement, save it and reuse it time and time again without to having actually waste time in drawing the same functions over and over again with a single character.
Storyboard is a separate software that helps you choose the colour schemes for each character or landscape. You can create actual storyboards of your animation to make sure you are not going of tract with your animation. What's more is it integrates with Studio (Animate Pro), where you can import the colour schemes of the characters and landscapes, saving you more and more time.

Don't forget to use antivirus on your PC hahaha..

I use norton internet security 2011. I bought 1 license for 3 PCs which is cheaper.
It is quite good, scan faster than kaspersky.. I have 1 tera HDD and I only need around 3 hours to do full system scanning.

Media Player Classic - similar to VLC but you can play many things using MPC. You have to install codecs.

TeraCopy - to copy files faster than window's copy files. It create a queue list and it will copy one by one with a normal speed. Unlike window's copy files engine, if you copy many things at once, the speed will drop !

The best program I have for graphic design and image manipulation is GIMP. It is available for windows too (I use it on Linux). It is free as opposed to Photoshop. I have used Photoshop a lot too in the past for designwork, but GIMP is a very good free replacement.

Mozilla Firefox – Web Browser (my fav) has a tonne of available add-ons, easy to use.

Fences – Nice Program that allows you to better manage your icons

Avast – Great Free Anti-Virus

Microsoft Security Essentials – Free anti-virus from Microsoft (it’s actually very good and quite fast)

Virtual Box – Allows you to run ‘Virtual’ guest operating systems (Windows/Linux)

Unetbootin - allows you to create bootable Live USB drives for Ubuntu, Fedora, and other Linux distributions without burning a CD.
