Posts: 2,334 Join Date: Apr 2011 | This is a poll/thread to see which traditional fighting game series is more popular on EC! Games like Super Smash Bros., anime fighters, and other "party style" fighters DO. NOT. COUNT. Is it.... Mortal Kombat Spoiler Street Fighter Spoiler The Soul Series Spoiler Tekken Spoiler King of Fighters Spoiler Capcom vs. Whatever Spoiler Spoiler Spoiler ...or another? I personally choose Tekken. I fell in love when I played Tekken 3, and it's the most comfortable and fluid fighter in my opinion.

Well, except for the obvious almost the same characters like Sophitia/Cassandra but still. XD I do like Tekken and I can get into Mortal Kombat, but I've never had any desire to play the Capcom crossovers or Street Fighter. And my brother got a KoF collection a while back just to check it out and we both hated it. Hated it. So Soul is definitely my favorite.

I just play for fun and not seriously. |

I think Namco did a good job at differentiating the three after SCII (where the three are nearly identical). Cassandra's more rushdown, Lizardman gets a whole new set of moves, and Sophitia has some great counter-attacks.

But I probably prefer Mortal Kombat, because it was the first I played way back with the and the violence in it is much more satisfying . The gameplay isn't as good but it is presented better in my opinion. That guy on the left in the Soul picture could sway me though haha. In any case I haven't played any of them for a long time, so this is just going off what I can remember from about 6 or 7 years ago. |

Everything in between was pretty mediocre.

They were supposed to be re-releasing the originals for the PC at the end of last year, but I don't know what happened to that. | |

Pfft, Sophitia's just stupidly overpowered, at least in SCIII... I haven't played any of the newer ones. Definitely SoulCal for me though. Tons of fun, and like was mentioned, the characters are all really varied. I'm sure I'm not a "good" player, but I'm a pretty decent Cassandra/Setsuka (though I'd love to figure out how to do the Silver Moon/Sakura Fury combos... <_<) I did enjoy Capcom vs. SNK 2, when my brother and I rented it way back when. And I don't care if it's an option or not, Brawl deserves an honourable mention for being such a good game for trolling other people in. ![]()

Blanka is my main man. I think you are being a little snobish saying smash doesn't count. I know around here, smash tournaments are probably about the most popular tourney game around. I don't like playing tourney rules though because they leave out all the items and stuff, and that's what makes smash fun to me.

Been kind of into King of Fighters XIII here lately. Had never really played one before, so its been a new experience. Guilty Gear, Blazblue, Capcom vs SNK 2, and Street Fighter 4 are all pretty fun too. |
