Firefox, which has always been good to me, is now shutting down every few minutes. Even if I'm not doing anything, it shuts itself off. I have no idea why. I'm stuck on Chrome now and really want to get back.
have you cleared the cache, deleted the browser history and deleting them both in their folders not through the browser? have you tried reinstalling the browser? Just being a bit geeky here but any reason you prefer firefox over chrome, I'm just interested tbh?
these links should help: That is for windows xp Solved: Where is my cookies folder? - Tech Support Guy Forums This is for windows 7 and vista: Where are my cookies? - Windows 7 Forums make sure to only delete the cookies, oh and for the second link make sure to make the hide the hidden folders again once you've done it. Oh and I was just being nosy about the firefox thing lol
I have no idea what anything on the Windows 7 link meant. ---------- Post added 8th May 2012 at 05:02 PM ---------- I don't know what my username is. And no, I haven't reinstalled yet. Trying that first.
I've never done it on a windows 7 machine but as far as I can tell all the forums say the path is: C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Cookies also have you reinstalled firefox as that may fix the problem too ---------- Post added 9th May 2012 at 02:07 AM ---------- I've got to sleep now but these links may help as well: Firefox support: Firefox Support Home Page | Firefox Help Issues with Firefox - MozillaZine Knowledge Base
I've been told by several knowledgeable people that after a certain amount of time (a year, maybe) it's a good idea to back up your bookmarks and cookies, and delete or uninstall Firefox entirely and reinstall it. Reason being, Firefox updates itself with patch after patch after patch, and eventually it gets to be a jumbled mess. Apparently the sorts of problems include random crashes and all sorts of other odd behavior that all seems to go away when you reinstall. I ended up switching to Safari on the Mac and i'm just as happy with it now for the most part, but there are definitely things in Firefox I like better.
