    Google Fiber Announced

This is amazing and once Google sets up an infrastructure other companies will finally be forced to end their monopolies or risk losing business to Google. I have a 7Mb/s connection right now, A Gb is a thousand Mb, think about that. With a $300 payment you can get 5Mb/s for free (not counting the single $300 payment). We pay around $80 for my 7Mb connection, this will be amazing when it comes out. I'm very excited.

Google is basically coming in and saying to other providers "Fuck you shit". This is great and this IS the future. Can't wait for nation-wide coverage.

When I first read the title, I thought Google was making a breakfast cereal.

I'd like to see their privacy policy for this. Essentially every single Google venture has involved collecting browsing habits so they can do targeted advertising. This service would allow them to inspect and catalogue all of your Internet traffic, which would be a dream to them, so I'm totally expecting that to be one of the catches.

    I thought that too

But what if google was just doing this so that they could run other companies down so they could become monopolistic themselves?
