So I don't know if you have already tried the new Windows 8. It is awesome and faster and all those things but I'm afraid of something... PRIVACY! I know we don't have to use our e-mail account as our log in into the PC but I like that way, it sync our e-mail and people, and we can get apps from the store and everything. But I'm afraid that having our e-mail account always logged in will allow to register all my moves as well as searches in my browser. What do you think?

Naw, it just uses it to store files and profile settings online. I think it'd be an awful lot of network traffic if it was storing everything you were doing and transmitting it elsewhere. It would also be breaking a lot of countries' privacy laws.

    I think you're safe.

It would still be able to record everything you do regardless of whether you used your email or not. Once it's associated the computer with your email address once, it doesn't need the email address any more.

Of course I doubt they are spying on you anyway.

Windows has always been problematic for the users. It's not just a Windows 8 thing.

I would say at least 95% of Windows users have no problems in day to day operation of their computers.
The majority of the remaining 5% is due to incompetence on the user's part.

That's true, but there exist other systems that respect their user's right to use the hardware they bought. Like GNU/Linux.

I'm sure the typical user would have far more troubles trying to use Linux than they would Windows :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:.
Yes Linux is better, but the benefits are beyond the scope of all but relatively niche users.

Not true. Ubuntu is pretty good right now for the average user. I know, because my dad is on it.

Of course; they are all usable, but I would say that for everyday layman's usage Windows is more user-friendly.

No way would I be installing that win 8 crap on any computer (nor would I buy a computer with it)...and I def wouldn't let it be storing any files/profile/settings/etc online (such attempts at that stuff would go straight to its 'hosts' file and/or my router's block list).

That 'metro' interface is horrid  (I know it can be changed - not real easily but do-able from what I've read) MS always stats their 'new' version of windows is "faster" which is a flat out lie, every time they come out with a new version it is slower and more of a resource hog than the previous one LOL

Plus if I want a computer thats totally incompatible (networking-wize) with the other computers I've got I'll go Linux

Windows 8 isn't complete crap.... it's a ton faster than any of the last releases, and Metro is OK... I'm actually typing this on 8 Pro, lol.

^did you get a new computer? (can't count speed then)
or 'downgrade' an existing one that had Win 7 or Win XP? /etc (would be truly shocking if its faster)

Well that is truly shocking...wow MS actually actually made a windows work faster than the previous one (only time saw that was the win 95 to win 98 upgrade)

    ---
Personally I'll sticking with 98 & XP ... LOL (unless I go do a Linux one eventually)

98 and XP? Old and outdated..... LOL :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: I actually know a lot of people who still use 98, and say they won't upgrade for at least a few more years, lol :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Yep, deff old/outdated LOL but works/does what I need  .. zero plans to upgrade.
Also have a netbook with win 7 (and I hate 7) but don't use that computer much

Why do you hate 7? Are you just really used to XP? Anyway, you won't be able to do anything with XP soon, as all support for it ends next year.

Its mainly the (purposely done) incompatibility of win 7 networking to XP/98/etc...something I really want/need to work. I'm ok with its interface, and it does seem like a good stable OS

I'm fine with support ending LOL it'll still work with existing (from its time period) stuff

If anything I plan to go/try Linux rather than any newer windows's
