I'm thinking about purchasing a canon for filming rather than taking pictures. I have read reviews and all that, and so far it seems that the Canon 5d Mark III or the Canon 7D is the one. I'm also looking for shotgun mics and other equipment like filters and rigs. Any one care to share their experiences? I know it's rather broard but any feedback is good. Currently have a Canon EOS 600D and a DIY Rig (which works pretty well but not as good as the real thing).

If you really wanna do it right, I'd go with the 5D and for audio a decent recording rig would be Sennheiser MK 60, MK 70 , MK8070 (short, medium and long) as well as a field recorder (something like this. )

That would get you started, but then you'd wanna get a couple of lavalieres for Production Audio.

Oh btw ^ was assuming pro level film industry
