I was wondering if anyone could help me out by answering a question I have about MalewareBytes

I had the trial and it expired, and when I have the money I'm thinking about buying it. How much am I looking at as far as costs go? Also, once I pay for it am I covered or do I need to keep paying for it on a monthly/yearly basis?

If any more questions cross my mind, I'll add them. Thanks if you can help!

As an avid comouter user, my recommendation is to just install a free antivirus program. There are plenty available such as AVG, MSE and avast. The rason for this is because as long as you know what you are doing, it is basically impossible to catch anything bad and therefore paying for antivirus software is nothing but a needless expense.

Malwarebytes is however a great piece of software for the newer and tougher forms of viruses as it can create a log that can help others develop a plan for removing the infection. But until that actually happens, and it should be a very rare occurence, I recommend just uninstalling it.

l would just keep the free version. l have Avast and malware bytes together, which l'm annoyed by sometimes but l like avast's active shields.

Once in a great while l pick up something with MB, and it's not just because the rest of the time it's failing to detect something like the premium version might. But when l do have an infection like this, avast won't pick it up in a scan.

l just don't get viruses, though l will say the ONE time l did, l had to download a separate program to pick it up. But it was also free, and a rare occurrance.

adding: unless you're doing a lot of thing you know are risky online but generally even torrenting can be done pretty safely with free protection IME.

l do stay away from downloading movies and a lot of TV sites.

OK, I'm going to be contrary here

Screw any antivirus, just run Linux on your desktop!

(OK, I'll admit my main machine is dual boot Windows and Linux, but if you look at the below, you'll see where I spend most of my time. I have a work-provided McAfee subscription on the Windows install).

    $ uptime
    21:23:35 up 23 days, 17:55, 10 users, load average: 0.47, 0.59, 0.64

I have free version of Avast and I have free version of malwarebytes..

as long as you don't download weird things, look at virus-infested porn, or go to unsafe website, you can pass with free version of malwarebytes...

    1) scan virus first
    2) click a few porn sites that you like/don't know, filter to the ones you like
    3) scan again
    4) go to those sites again which you actually love
    5) scan again, if no virus, your porn sites are safe
    6) don't get addicted

  11. Another vote here for free Avast! and free MalwareBytes. That's what I've run on my Windows installs for perhaps a decade. I also recommend free Comodo Firewall. CCleaner is good if you know what you're doing! It can cause problems later if you don't know what you're doing with CCleaner.
