    Is there a free video editing program with a garbage matte? I need to clone myself for a video project, but I don't have the money for Premiere/Vegas/Final Cut/etc.

    If it's a relatively one-time deal, could you just get a 30 day free trial of one of those programs?

    Adobe AfterEffects probably has a 30-day trial. I would look up tons of tutorials on how to use it before activating though, to maximize your time.

    Premiere also has a 30-day trial, on that same token.

    Premiere elements might be worth a look.

    I also contacted someone who used Corel Visualstudio, and he said it might be possible with that, as well.

    As for free software, I don't think there is any that allows masking. VirtualDub might be one.. but I haven't really looked much into it.

    Whatever you do, NEVER, ever ever ever EVER go with Avid. EVER. There are many better choices out there.

    I have to take Avid class again, next year.. But if I want a job in this industry, I gotta be versatile.. Although it seems that Premiere's gonna take over very soon, and Avid will be obsolete (Because they NEVER actually update, no matter what the numbers say)
