    Fire Emblem, Animal Crossing.

If there's a Legend of Zelda title for the 3DS, pick that up too. I don't actually own a 3DS so I'm not sure.

Paper Mario: Sticker Stars? I have no idea if it's any good, but it's pretty non-gorey.

+1 for Legend of Zelda (there should be a few for 3DS). One of the only series that continues to be relevant even 25 years later.

I second Fire Emblem its a great game!!

Also second Legend of Zelda, always a great game to play!

Starfox 3D is another suggestion that I would have  Starfox is an amazing game (never played it on 3ds but have played earlier versions of starfox)

Rayman 3D for sure as well! Great game!

The Last of Us on PS3.
Joel is hot. So hot even though he's old. He looks kind of like Snake from Metal Gear Solid.
Still, Joel is old hot. But, still hot.

Oh, you should also check out Devil May Cry if your into that kind of violence.
Try God of War. Also. Kratos. Godly hot.

That sounds like a lot of fun and I bet he will be very happy to get it! Zelda is one of my all time favorite past time games that I have played :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: Even on gameboy/3ds it will be wonderfully enjoyable!

Kingdom Hearts! I'm pretty sure Dream Drop Distance and Re:Coded are for the 3ds. Great game series involving tons of Disney characters.

Maybe even Luigi's Mansion or Donkey Kong for the 3DS could be viable options. At least I enjoyed them. =3

How about Portal? Or maybe Portal 2. Portal 2 is much more kid friendly. It's a puzzle game that I'm sure a 12 year old could play. I played it when I was 11.

Not to be "that guy" But at 12 years old I had already been introduced to the world of CoD and Resident Evil and what not. I don't think it raises psychological issues unless your son/daughter is placed on a TV screen for most of the day. I'd give it a chance to give your kid a semi violent game here or there. Then again, I am a guy and well.. Yea. Sorry to have offended or anything like that, I just thought I'd state my mind. If he has a PS3 however, I'd recommend the Little Big Planet games (any of them) They are pretty fun to play and stimulate creativity.

^ not to be "that guy", but when you were 12 years old, that was only 3 years ago. It'd be a little early to judge whether it's done any lasting damage, if that's what we're talking about.

For those of us a bit older, we grew up in a time where shooting games weren't ridiculously prevalent like they seem to be today.
