I suppose that's due to the complete and utter failure of my first 'gay' community being on the internet. Long story short I found a forum for LGBT peoples, but then drama ensued, most of it I had started but I made the appropriate amends, still got lots of hell afterwards, so I had to directly message their forum head to get rid of my Threads/Posts so I could start over. Instead the asshole deletes my entire account, which is not what I asked him to do, so I sent an angry email in response. Needless to say that forum was in fact my first gay community, and I'm 21 years old so you may imagine my frustration.

My true frustration comes from Googling for gay forums but finding too many that are pornographic in nature. I guess the LGBT community at large cares more for porn than for 'community', something I desperately need in my life. As my co-worker Meoki told me "You need a man!" Yeah well how can I get one if I'm like the only gay here in Selma? I'm in the wrong city and the wrong state to be a gay male, let alone a black one at that. I'm currently out to like 10 people here, half of them I wanted to be out to, the other half just were too damn nosey so I had to tell them to shut them up.

I know traditionally backgrounds are given on forums, but I'd rather say nothing of myself, because it seems the minute I talk about myself, immediately people are ready to judge me, outcast me, or take something and use it against me, i.e. piss me off. I'm tired of people in general but I'm not anti-social. Other than my orientation and race, the only other thing about me you need to know is that I'm a furry. I will not answer questions as to "what is a furry?" you want to know, go Google it. I wont talk about it on the forum either, although it would be nice to meet other furs, but as that community has so much drama laced within it, I'd rather just fly solo.

What am I here for? I honestly don't know, other than I need some form of gay community to be apart of, as I don't have one IRL to join. I'm not here to make friends as there's no such thing in this world. I'm not here to make enemies either, but if you make me mad even one time, you're automatically my enemy for life. I'm sorry but that's just the person I am. I have a dark past, a dark-ish present, and a very dark future. I don't wish to talk about them so don't ask.

What do you plan on doing here? Socializing for the most part, that's all a forum is for anyhow. I plan on being polite, respectful, and helpful, just don't ever expect me to be in a good mood or happy, those don't exist within me. Now let's get one thing out of the way. I am not a troll. I've been called to and compared to a troll before, it really angers me. Actually the truth is people can't seem to handle me when I get really fired up. I'm practically demonic at that point, so they just call me a troll and go on to bash me or ban me like I am a troll. No it's called certain things must never be said at or about me, unless they want the gates of hell to open upon thee.

This is, to my knowledge, my last option. If this place doesn't work out, I'll not hesitate to message the forum head to get rid of my account. I do sincerely hope no one here will prompt or provoke me in such a way I'll want to leave. I don't want to leave, I just got here, and it'd be nice if I could stay on a forum for at least a year or longer.

For those of you who're curious (I'll allow just this info) my fursona is an anthro wolf, black with yellow eyes. Currently I'm having him drawn by an artist over at FA, so now I must wait. If he can't do it, I've asked him to refer me to someone who can. I wish I had the talent to do it myself but alas, I do not.

I used to have a list of my pet peeves but I don't anymore. Well I do have at least one. Never, ever talk to me about or approach me with religion. That's all I ask and we should be fine. Looking forward to meeting people (I guess).

Well, EC is a forum directed primarily towards support. When it started back in... 2006-ish, I think, it was because a partner forum heavily sexual in nature and very 18+ was attracting a lot of minors and people who just wanted help with their sexual orientation/gender identity/etc. And that's why EC was born, in a nutshell.

It's expanded since to include some non-support forums usually used for more social means, like Chit-Chat and Entertainment and etc., but it still is a support forum at heart. There are many posters here who do not regularly need support and only use it for the social purposes though, so you aren't alone in that regard.

I will say though, EC is typically pretty drama-free, as our community base and staff team are really diligent in trying to keep this place as safe and comfortable as possible. If you're in doubt of anything, report it using the "Post Report" feature and we'll check it out. There will be topics you might not want to join in on (like religion), so that's up to you if you click the respective links.

And finally, while everyone has bad days, people tend to be less approachable while they're "brooding" (as per your mood setting). The community here is friendly enough if you'll give them a shot, so jump in wherever you feel you'd like to, whether that's the forums, posting on people's walls, blogging, etc.

I guess that's it for my spiel. Welcome to EC.

    1. That's the issue I seem to have on forums. The minute I do be myself, crap happens.

On the note of numbers 2-4, how do I know this to be true? I mean, can I remotely trust anyone here, let alone the forum itself?

I feel very jaded by forums and I'm tired of Googling everyday for one that fits me. Someone (I don't believe this) linked me to a rather racial forum. I actually felt offened by that.

Dude, reading your posts you do seem to be a very angry person and I'm not trying to be provocative by saying that (after all, you admit it yourself). Therefore this forum is probably perfect. Why? Because in my experience this forum is real friendly and allows you to explore your thoughts without getting caught up in any dramas or arguments - your original post did seem to be an outlet for that anger, and while people will always be honest with you on here, people aren't quick to judge and pretty tolerant of any thoughts that happen to run through your head.

Your post made me a little sad, especially this line: "I'm not here to make friends as there's no such thing in this world." Mainly because it reminded me of myself when I was younger. I'm not gonna give a "it gets better" speech or anything, but my advice would be to explore your thoughts on here and get things off your chest if you need to. You'll probably find it helps, and you'll definitely find that - while people on here may not become your "friends" as such - they'll support you. As BudderMC said, this site is about support.

This site helped me a great deal, and I know that it's helped - and continues to help - so many other people. So I recommend you stick around and see what it has to offer. I hope you find it helpful.

I swear it's about time someone didn't do such, that really annoys me after a while. I mean for a person to sit there and say "it gets better, etc etc" means that either they don't know what it's like to have a hard life, or they're trying to cover up their own baggage, or possibly just passing on stuff others told them.

It can be; it can also be as a result of a genuine personal experience, however. It may be naive to apply this to everyone, yes, but just because one has had it tough in life does not mean that they are destined to that fate forever. As I say, this site is great at allowing you space and support to address the issues that affect you - whatever they may be. There's never a guarantee that things will automatically improve in life, but I think if you approach problems with the resolve of making change happen, it certainly has the potential to be fruitful.

Trust in what way? You are anonymous on an online forum (LGBT Support forum more precisely). No one's going to tell your dirty little secret to anyone else. Hell, if you're afraid of posting some questions that may be "embarrassing", you can even post them in the Anonymous forum where your username will not be shown, so no one will know but yourself who posted it, and you'll still be able to get the answers you seek.

Finally, try to cast off all that negativity. I understand that your situation may be depressing for you, but you're not going to help yourself if you carry that weight with you everywhere you go, including forums. That being said, the Support area exist for you to seek some form of help should you need it.

Anyway, welcome to EC, and let's

I already gave you my explanation of the forums, so I'll skip rehashing that. If you hang around here, you'll learn that I'm fairly into psychology. There's a phenomenon called "self-fulfilling prophecy". Basically what it explains is that if you believe something to be true, events will inevitably unfold to make it happen.

Now, this isn't any "The Secret" type of shit, but it is about attitude. If you come here thinking that you're going to have a terrible time because forums have been bad to you in the past (which is legitimate), then you're going to inevitably have a bad time here.

Take off your negativity shades for a couple of seconds and look openly at what people are saying. We're welcoming you into the community; whether you choose to accept that welcome is up to you, but it's in your best interest to do so if you want to enjoy your stay here.

That said, nobody is going to force you to do anything, so you act as you see fit. But as someone who's seen enough people go down the same road (myself included, to some extent), you're going to have a bad time at this rate. Give it a wholehearted shot and forget about what's happened before.

    First of all welcome.

Encouraging someone to be themselves is always a risk, if someone is a psychopath you really don't want them being themselves. That being said, if you are respectful, you are respected. It's very simple. This is the most civil forum I've been on and I've been a guest and been a mod on a few.

Numbers 2-4. You don't know this to be true, and to blindly have trust would be ignorant. However if you slowly try, you may find what you need.

If you spend your time and effort being angry and looking for faults, you will find them.

    Hello and Welcome.

If you want support, post one asking for advice with your current problem.
If you just want to give an opinion or advice etc. Feel free to do so. We're all adults here. So no one has to be giving you unnecessary BS
You can create a blog, but it's probably one of the most unused feature here on EC.

Most members here are nice. I haven't interacted with all of them >_> but they're ok.
    Again, Welcome to EC

Hello and welcome to EC. I've discovered that there are a lot of good listeners and supportive folks here. Sounds like things are kinda tough for you right now, but I hope you're able to find a bit of peace and some camaraderie among us...
