    Hello! :smilewave

I've been searching for a forum like this for a long time; I don't know how I didn't find this sooner.

I'm Alison. I'm horrible at introductions as I never know what to say. I'm an independent person, a worrier, pensive, funny, sarcastic and loyal. I was an only child and therefore most of my interests are fairly easily done alone; I like to read, cook, watch movies and sports, do crafts, listen to music and I played golf in high school and college.

I'm excited to find a place where I can learn about myself and others and spend time meeting new people.

Say hello and tell me your favorite part of being a member on EC.

Hi! Your intro is just fine. Good vibes.
    Welcome to EC!

Best part of EC for me is airing out all the gayness.
It's liberating. I actually came out to my brother a month after joining this site.
    So it helps.

Thanks! Congratulations on coming out to him - I hope it went well and you feel a weight has been lifted!

Side note: I recently moved from Chicago and so I'm super jealous your location is Illinois. I grew up north of Chicago and I miss it very much.

It was definitely a good experience!

A fellow Illinoisan! I don't see many around EC, so it's nice that you are.
But don't be too jealous. Despite living so close to the city I have not really experienced it.
    It's like I'm a tourist.
What do you miss the most?

My parents and my dog, in terms of legitimate things to miss. I miss the comfort of familiar places and the pizza (there is no comparison; New York-style does not hold a candle to Chicago-style) haha. I'm going to REALLY miss seeing Bears/Bulls jerseys walking around and it was hard to watch the Hawks' playoffs here when I wanted to be home for that. Those are probably dumb things to miss. I never went into the city much either, frankly, as I have anxiety issues there so I know the "I'm like a tourist" feeling well.

A dog! I love dogs. Share my home with two little monsters. Was yours a little cuddly one? Or perhaps a big cuddly one?
Did you move for work purposes?
Haha! Yes, Chicago-style! Love the pizza.
Aww! I'm not into sports, but I remember all the hullabaloo about the Hawks. Looked like a cool thing to be a part of.
I think those are all perfectly legitimate things to miss.
Ah yes, the city is beautiful, but it makes me nervous.
Anxiety due to all the people?

G Day Alison, and even though I am a newbie myself to EC, WELCOME to EC.

I have been involved in other forums, but this community feels like it is the safest so far.

A little Shih tzu - she's almost 18 years old! Yes I had to relocate for work; they sold the group I was with north of Chicago but invited me to move to keep my job. It was a really hard decision. Yes anxiety due to all the people. I'm actually pretty close to NYC here and I've not ventured into the city for the same reason.

Thanks and welcome yourself then! I've been a member of just one other forum before this for the last 6 years now that I've very much enjoyed. Hopefully this will be another good experience.

A Shih tzu! So cute! Their little bottom teeth are my favorite.
    Life! Always throwing curveballs! Bleh!
I'm glad you got to keep your job though. And it's kind of an adventure.
Yeah, NYC. Waaay more people. Usually it's easier to attack the crowds with a friend.

I want to be a part of the hustle and bustle, but at the same time it terrifies me.
And I like being able to drive my own car and knowing I'll find free parking.

    Thank you thank you!

Haha yess she doesn't do that so much anymore but she did as a puppy. I could not agree more about having my car and finding parking; that makes me feel so "secure" whereas not being able to do that makes me feel out of control. Haha.
