Hello everyone, I'm gay man from Russia (I guess many heard about situation here...), I'm in my late twenties and I can't say I'm very closeted. In past few years I managed to accept my sexuality and came out to some friends. Despite that I was alone from very long time. Now I've got a boyfriend, we are together for nearly 6 months now. I'm a doctor and researcher in a research institute, but planning to change my job soon. I'm a metalhead in soul (not in looks) and a gamer, also I enjoy doing sports, reading, going to concerts and theater. Alright, I don't know what to say anymore. That's it, I guess)
Hello whalerider, welcome to EC! It's a real treat to hear from someone in that "situation", I hope that you are living as freely as you can and that your job change, etc. is not affected by that particular situation. We are all concerned and disturbed by the images and words coming out of your country when it comes to the LGBT community, our thoughts are with you and all of those over there who wish to live as they are.... Great name by the way :icon_bigg
Welcome to EC. My support goes out to you in Russia for what is going on over there for the LGBT community. Interestingly enough, it has caused me to be even more aggressively out then I was previously. I've been wearing LGBT T-shirts in public as a silent protest because I can and many in other countries cannot. I talk about the issue whenever possible but I feel rather helpless to do more then just raise visibility. When you say metal head, what is your favorite band that I might have heard of?
Welcome! Nice, a russian! Gay russians are indeed a treat for EC given the current situation... I hope we will learn a lot about Russia nowdays thanks to you
Thanks all for greetings. Indeed, Russia is on fire with LGBT theme these days.. Well, I don't think this thread is suitable for discussion about music tastes, but I will name few favorites: therion, dream theater, devin townsend, eluveitie, edenbrige and others.
My heart goes out to you. The Orthodox Church in Russia persecutes gays, whilst what goes on in their monasteries is nobodies business. Putin's government follows suit.
Well, its hard to characterize a country in few words.. Unfortunately, I can't say much good about it. Biggest cities like Moscow and Saint-Petersburg are worth visiting for architecture and museums, but its a known fact. In short I would just say: don't come here, there are lot more better places.
