    Hello from South Africa

    I am gay. I have known and explored it since 2009. Before that I always knew I was different from my straight friends and family.

    I grew up in a quite conservative home and I am in fear of coming out to my parents and family. Over the past 2 years I have systematically came out to good and close friends, all with great results and support.

    What I want everyone to know is when I finally come out to the world I will still be the same guy I am but not living a lie.

    Since 2009 I have been through a few disasterous relationships and dates. But this year something amazing happened. I started chatting with an amazing guy and we feel very strong for eachother. He is completely out and I like him very much. This is urging me to come out completely so that I can get to know him better without living a secret life and who knows, maybe we can spend our lives happily together.

    Thank you for this site. I will try and read over some posts and see if I can gain some knowledge.

    Thank you for the welcoming messages! :slight_smile: It has been a long and hard battle up to now for me that has plunged me into some serious states of depression. But the more I come out to my good friends the more light shines in my heart.

    I am still praying and hoping for the best possible way and moment to come out to my parents and close family.

    That is my fear as well. Not that we as a family have much to be "disowned" from - hehe. Jokes aside... I know my parents love me very much. Guess it is just that primal fear of being rejected.

    I actually went to South Africa(cape town) for a trip a few years ago and I got to say it was one of the most beautiful places that I ever been.
