Actually mine was the exact opposite. I used to identify as lesbian and now identify as bisexual. It's not unusual for people to identify as bisexual first before identifying as gay or lesbian. I probably would've done that myself when I was younger, but where I grew up, coming out publically as anything other than straight would've been very bad, and I wasn't on EC then.

Yes, I'm going through that right now actually. I think, initially, it's easier to tell yourself that you're bisexual than it is to accept that you're gay. With time, we realize who we really are though  if you ever need to talk, you can post on my wall anytime!

When I was in high school I dated guys, partly to hide my desire for girls, and partly to try to make myself straight, since there is no consequences to being straight. Every time I tried to do anything that you would consider sexual contact with boys it felt really wrong, even with boys I liked. I had zero physical attraction to boys and very physically attracted to girls, so I assumed I was a lesbian. Then last year I started hanging out and spending time with a long time male friend. I ended up falling in love with him, and because of that I ended up having a physical attraction to him, and being able to have sex with him without feeling bad. Someone told me this is probably demi sexuality, where you develop a physical desire for a specific person that you have feelings for. Although I still have no desire for guys in general, I can't legitimately call myself a lesbian anymore, since I can't honestly say I hate having physical contact with him. I've been told I've probably always been a demi sexual bisexual, it's just that the circumstances never allowed me to realize it earlier in life. Probably kind of like a person to later in life realizes that they're bi or gay after only having hetro relationships. The only way I can explain demi sexuality is like yogurt. I've had yogurt with fruit and it's okay, but try it plain and it's a completely different experience :lol

My desire for him however is different than for women. with people in general I like boobs and vaginas and dislike penises and other male related body stuff. With him though his body parts are mostly irrelevant. He does have beautiful eyes but then I've known girls with beautiful eyes too. My physical attraction to him is mostly a desire to be close to him. It isn't even sexual, although we can do certain things sexually and both get off. I'm not turned off by his body but I'm not really turned on by it either. It's like when you put 2 magnets together and they stick, but with random guys it's exactly the opposite. I know it sounds unusual and I don't quite understand it myself. It's the reason I initially came to EC, to find out why this is. There's a lot of theories out there as to what causes attraction but so far no one has been awarded the Nobel prize for proving that their theory is the right one.

I suspected I was bisexual for about a week or two when I was 14. It was very short lived.
I suspected that I was asexual when I was 15. It lasted for about 5-6 months.

I came out as lesbian sometime around my 16th birthday, which is January 1st.
