Not exactly new, but hello.

Hi there. I am not exactly new, but I thought I would introduce myself in the hopes of maybe making some new friends. I feel pretty isolated in my current situation, and hopefully this will be the first step to changing that.

So. A little about me. I am a lesbian and transgender(post-op). I have been out for many years. While I am comfortable with my orientation I have a lot of issues due to all the things I went through as a kid. I have a hard time opening up and meeting new people, and I have never been in a relationship with anyone, nor have I had much human contact of any sort. Being a loner due to my circumstances has left me extremely lonely and I am hoping to work through my issues to the point where I can have a healthy long-lasting relationship, maybe even find a life partner.

I am not all that special. At least I don't think so. While I am far from a perfect human being, I do try to be a caring and loving person. I love painting and drawing and all forms of creative expression. That is what my life centers around. I hope to meet some people with similar interests.

I have been trained in art since I was very young. I like to do science fiction and fantasy illustration as well as attempting to write. I started out doing watercolor and traditional drawing, then oil and acrylic painting. Now I work digitally. I also tinker with 3d modeling and some computer programming. I went to school for new media/film and animation with a side interest in art history. Currently I am working on a graphic novel and trying to put my life back together.

 

That's really cool! I can understand losing direction. Art school is useful, but most of what I learned came from hard work on my own. Actually I suffered from burnout a couple years after college where I didn't do a lot. They spend a lot of time on theory, and it can really break the creative spirit for a while. Just recently I have started being productive again. My grandmother was an art teacher so she got me started at 4 or 5, and I really started working at becoming more skilled in my late teens. Painting on furniture sounds interesting. That is actually something I have never tried.
