I just joined and figured I'd introduce myself. I'm "Alex", and I came across this place when it became apparent that I needed to find folks going through the same stuff I'm going through. Questions about my gender identity have been a background noise for years and years, but more recent events have forced me to start trying to answer them. Although I've been aware of the idea of transgender for a while (with outdated terms), non-binary is a relatively new thing I've been exposed to. It's just getting harder and harder to "swallow" my issues and ignore them at this point, even though it has made things easier for me. While I may lurk quite a bit early on, and be somewhat secretive about my assigned gender, but I hope to do that less and less as I grow more comfortable with my (real) self. I also look forward to getting to know you folks better.

Thank you for the welcome. It's the bolded part that makes me nervous actually. I'm all too aware of times I've overgeneralized or stereotyped when dealing with labels without meaning to. :eusa_doh: I will figure it out, though. I just may lurk more than I'd like at first.
