Hi. I am a 19 year old, almost 20, college student. I'm a pretty normal dude for the most part. My sexuality has been the awkward elephant in the room for about 8 years.

I tried ignoring it for a long time. It worked in middle and high school, but college is a whole different animal. I've struggled with my emotions immensely the last 2 years.

I think I have a pretty good life, and I thank G-d for my family and friends. But, being a closeted, sexually confused person in a homophobic family, religion and culture has made things harder then they should be.

I have been progressing pretty nicely professionally, socially and academically for the most part, with a few bumps along the way of course, but emotionally and mentally I'm falling apart at the seams.

I joined mainly to talk to people a little bit. I've joined other LGBT-oriented forums in the past but often receded into a state of denial. I'm hoping I don't hide in my shell again. I've become so aggressive lately and I just know it has to do with sexual frustration.

I'm a virgin, never kissed anyone, never dated anyone...and people are starting to notice and I don't know how to respond or react.

I have not come out to any family members...none of my friends from high school...only to some of my fraternity brothers and college friends...but I was drunk and in almost every case retracted my "confession" and blamed it on the drunken state of mind.

It's funny that you post this. I'm a political science student. I remember when that happened, I still lived in New York City at the time, I think, so it was kinda close to home. Didn't think much of it back then.

I wish I could, but I really can't right now. I'm involved in religious and political organizations, though the latter is actually more gay friendly then former, and it's just something I can't do right now.

One of the reasons I joined is so I can have a private support system to get me through the year. I am pretty tough skinned and am very private with my personal life, but everyone needs people to talk too.

I know some people will tell me to ditch these groups, or to find groups that are more accepting, but it's really not that simple.
