Hi, I'm 19 years old and only recently feel like I'm coming to terms with my sexuality. Even though I've never had any feelings for anyone of the opposite sex I tried to convince myself for ages I was straight. Interestingly when I was around 11/12 several people at school were sure I was gay which I denied again and again (which wasn't a lie as I didn't have that sort of feeling for anyone at that time). But as I've gone through my teens the and the feeling I might be gay got stronger, I'm sure everyone new I've met is 100% convinced I'm straight! I have absolutely no idea how my parents/further family/friends would deal with my sexuality. Most of the people around me have nothing wrong with people being gay in general, but I know how upset some of those closest to me would be if they knew the truth. Coming out (to anyone) really doesn't feel like an option right now. Despite the anonymity, joining up here feels like another step towards me accepting reality. Adam.
Welcome!! I'm at the exact same spot as you, and we're even the same age. would love to talk to you sometime..
Hello and welcome, Adam! It's a pleasure meeting you. I hope you'll enjoy your time on here and make sure to ask any questions you have with confidence. Lots of love, Andy
Welcome to Empty Closets Adam. If you have arrived at a point where you are coming to terms with your sexuality that means you have faced one of the biggest challenges in the coming out process. That's not to say the next steps will not be challenging, but you can't even take the next steps if you are still in doubt, so well done on getting to this point. Empty Closets is a good place to seek help and support as you continue your journey and consider when and how to tell other people. Take a look at the Coming Out message board as you will see other people share their experiences and it may help you plan a way forward. If you have any questions of your own though, please post a message for us to read and reply to.
