    Claire used introduction!

Hey y'all, I've been looking around for a place to hang for a while and this forum looks promising. I am a transgender soldier currently serving in the U.S. Army and I am deeply in the closet when it comes to anything outside of the internet. I am married to a wonderful woman who is one of the few people in my life who know and I have an awesome son with another child soon to join our family. Can't really come up with anything more than that to say though, I consider myself to be a fairly uninteresting person. I can't wait to meet and get to know everyone here!

Hi there and welcome to EC,

I hope you really enjoy your time here, we are all very friendly and supportive here.. congrats to you and your wife on your extending family, And can I just say one more thing, although I am Australian.. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for serving your country as a solider. I think we all need to just take the time to thank our military personnel as it is a big responsibility to shoulder and a big risk you all take in making the world safe for the rest of us to live in as much peace as we can.

    Hey ClearlyClaire, welcome to EC!

You're a transgender soldier serving in the U.S. Army and you find yourself uninteresting?! Oh dear, we are all going to have to up our game a little to even come close to matching that!

Stick around, you'll have a blast (strictly a figure of speech)!

Thank you guys so much for the welcome. This promises to be an awesome forum. I have always felt a little uncomfortable about the thank you for your service, I appreciate the spirit in which it is said and all, but toe its just a job and I feel like I'm some kind of attention hog when people say that. I'm not infantry or anything, my job is all talking on radios and filling forms. But thank you all very much nonetheless. Mainly mentioned my service because it is a part of who I am, just as much a part as the fact that I am transgender. And those two parts, at least in the U.S. are very much at odds with each other. I was in before DADT was repealed and I celebrated with my LGB brothers and sisters when the ban on their service was lifted and the stigma began to be stripped away. Transgender soldiers are very much in the same position. We live in fear of being outed because if the wrong kind of people found out who were in the right positions of power, it could have devastating effects on our lives. This is why I mention my service, not to draw attention I'm a look at me sort of way, I'm just an average soldier. Its to give a little insight as to who I am. For some people, getting kicked out of the military isn't as big a deal as for others. For me however, its all I've ever known. My dad was in, most of my family was in. Almost all of my generation. I've been in since before I even graduated highschool. So even if I were to receive an honorable discharge, it would devistate me. Its something that speaks to the very core of who I am and who I will be for the rest of my life.
So once again, thank you all for the welcome.

Sir, I am a lowly NCO. With any luck, however; I hope to be joining the ranks of warrant officers within the next two years.

So weird! you're just like my auntie bex (used to be my uncle chris) She is a soldier, and went forward with the transformation and still kept her job and everything. Her wife is totally fine with it and now they are a lovely lesbian couple. It's funny how many stories we all have to share and similar they can be. Hope you enjoy EC and find help through the forums!
    Hugs and kisses :*

First of all, thank you for serving. It pleases me to hear that you served in the military, because I wanted to join as well, but was declined to do so. So I try to thank every service men and women/transgered whatever they are who wares that uniform and protect our freedom. So I appreciate you serving on the battlefield.
