    Hi everybody! My name's Derek and I just started reading some of the threads, the coming out stories and other things on this site and I gotta say, everyone seems so damn nice! So I decided to join .. just so I can have an outlet, I suppose, because not many people know that I'm gay and I can only really talk about it comfortably with my mum (yeah, she's cool with it - I might post my story in that thread later).

    There aren't many people that are gay/bi or have told people that they're gay/bi around my age in my area so I'm really keen to meet everyone here and make some good online gay friends!

    Oh, yes. People at here are AWESOME!!!! That's great that you are out to your mum and she is cool with that. Maybe your story of coming out will help so many people who is not out or trying to come out:thumbsup:
    BTW, there are so many people who is your around age here(Including myself) and I'm sure you'll make good friend on here!!!

    Hi there CelebrityHead and welcome to the forum. Noticing that your from Melbourne it may be worth having a chat with Dave asi'm sure he'll be able to tell you about some of the programs for gay teens in your area. I believe Melbourne has quite a bit to do.

    First of all welcome to Emptyclosets! As jamieuk pointed out, I'm also from Melbourne :grin:

    One resource that might interest you is http://www.minus18.org. Minus18 is a Melbourne based under age 'dance party' for gay/bi/lesbian/curious people and their friends. I've recently started volunteering there, and its a great place to talk to other people face to face that have gone/are going through what you're going through. The next event is July 3rd (first Tuesday of the school holidays). So if you're interested PM me and I'll send you the rest of the info - or just check out the website.

    PS - there are more gay people in melbourne than you'd ever think :wink:

    Yeah, my brother's girlfriend told me about minus18, it sounds really cool. I was gonna go to the april party but didn't really feel up to it at the time.. and then I'll be 18 by the 3rd of July
    and oh by 'area' i meant like at my school n that, not melbourne lol :icon_wink

    Since the event on the 3rd of July will the 8 year birthday of Minus, we let people in who are under 21, so you could still come if you wanted to =]
