I'm coming out tomorrow

    hello everyone,

    I'm a southern lady living in NYC. I'm finally telling my extended family tomorrow that I'm a lesbian. I'm very nervous. It's paralyzing me right now. Im having trouble focusing at my job today because I am not letting myself put this off any longer. tomorrow is the day ... I can't believe I'm nearly 30 and I'm being such a baby over this. I have to do this. It's not fair to me. Its certainly not fair to my partner. I have to do this. I have joined this forum in hopes I can gain strength and pride by reading others stories and telling my own.

    Pretty much everyone here knows how scary coming out can be. You might want to check the Coming Out Advice forum for other people's stories and maybe share your own! Everyone around here is very supportive.

    Welcome to EC. No mattee how old we are - coming out is never easy or simple. Ome people will find it easier and some will be lucky enough to await full support. Coming out is sth really important to many people and especially as u have a partner - it sounds loke a good idea. Dont be worried about it too much. It will happen if you worry or not at some point.     gloriaeuphoria, welcome to the group ! I have to say this to you ,its OK we all get scared and it is a hard thing to do I know that you can do it !! Just don't rush things take your time and you will know when the time is right if it is tomorrow the that's great it its later that is OK too . Take a deep breath and try to relax I know that it is easier said then done. Just remember this we are here for you and if you ever need to talk cry vent what ever I will be there for you !     You are not being childish for being afraid of coming out to your extended family.. It's a huge thing! Just remember it is for the best and that you are doing both your partner and you a huge favour. Soon you will feel like a whole weight has been lifted off your shoulders. Good luck!     Hooray! congratulations, Bottomsup! That is a huge, gigantic step. It's been a roller coaster since I came out to myself, but I will say that I love and accept myself in a way that I never did before and I hope that is the case for you as well!!! I'm still struggling to expand that circle of who knows I'm gay, but I believe what I've been told here that it is the right time when it is the right time, not to feel pressured, and to understand that I don't have to tell everyone or anyone, just people with whom it is safe and who I think should know. For now, enjoy the tremendous joy of knowing who you are, and that it is OK, much more than OK, it is wonderful! :eusa_clap
