Hi everyone. I'm not very good at this (clearly) so um. Huh. :help: Well, I am a genderqueer musical theatre performer who has a lot of fear about coming out in this community. Well, I have fear about coming out in general. I just got back from performing in NY and my feelings have really intensified (?) since being there.. I just feel very trapped inside myself and I hate it.. I want to feel comfortable enough to go out and present the way I feel and.. I just feel like I can't idk. I'm really bad at putting this into words.. Um.. I also struggle with mental illness? But I get help for that yay. One of my favourite forms of "therapy" is dance. When I'm in a dance studio or on stage all the bullshit just kinda. goes away. Dance is my safe haven. It's one of the reasons I won't go back into treatment... They won't let me dance.. I also happen to be a classically trained singer. Classically I'm a colluratura mezzo but in MT I do soprano-alto cause of my giant range So. General stuff. I'm 21. I love Harry Potter (GO SLYTHERIN), fashion, makeup, a **** ton of books and authors (I'm an avid reader), and enjoy knitting. I also play piano and occasionally write. Yeah. That's all I can think to say right now.... Nice to meat you all?
Welcome to EC, Laszlo. I'm a genderfluid actor, so I can identify with that fear and rush. You are not trapped and the community here as well as in the wider world of musical theatre is very accepting of different gender as well as the spectrum of sexuality.
I'm glad you've found it to be that way but to be honest, I haven't.. :/ In terms of sexuality, sure, but not as much in terms of gender especially with musical theatre where things are still very much stuck in "if you're male you do this, if you're female you do this" with no in between or even switching between them.. I think it's partly because the world of Broadway is so governed by people who aren't really in the arts. But even within. Certain directors, choreographers, musical directors I've worked with.. I've found the arts in general to be a lot more, well, behind than one would expect... :/ But yeah! Thank you for the welcome and I look forward to being here at EC and, I hope, feeling comfortable here.. Ah, nah, you are!

Hello Yay! Potterheads!!!! I bet you have a lovely voice!! The voice is a totally awesome instrument that is also a muscle and requires so much training it's insanity. And you gotta know how to do it right too. But just like athletics, almost anyone can train it and become better, or even amazing Just a little tid bit I always feel like sharing cause people discount vocal training way too often lol. Also, I'm sure you have a much better voice than you think (in case you couldn't guess from the whole MT thing+this little mini rant about vocal music, I'm a trained singer and singing is awesome never stop)
