Hello! Welcome to EC! It's great to meet you! It's great that you support your daughter! We need more and more people to support their LGBT sons and daughters. When I was 14, I was depressed, so one of my teachers told my mom that I'm gay and my mom picked me up from school...I was talking about suicide so my parents had me sit in my mom's office at her job and I came out to them, and they're extremely supportive, and always have been. No one should have their dignity taken from them, and it's great that you're one more person who supports their gay child. I hope you like it here!
Hi Caitlynn and welcome. It's lovely to hear from parents like you, who accept and support their kids when they come out. We know it's not always easy for you (as a parent) but it really does make a huge difference. Have you checked out the Parents/Families section of Empty Closets yet? If not: For Parents and Family Members of LGBT People - Empty Closets - A safe online community for gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender people coming out You will find lots of threads from parents and family members on this board and our responses. Post a message of your own, if you wish. Ashton's Dad may need some time to come to terms with things. Even though he is struggling now, there will hopefully come a point when he accepts things and realises it's not a matter of choice - quite simply we are who we are. Orgainsations like PFLAG or FFLAG can help. Check out their websites. Nice to have you onboard.
Hello and welcome, Caitlynn! o/ It's nice to see that parents like you support their children no matter what. That's what parents are supposed to be doing. You have my uttermost respect and I wish you and your daughter all the best! Best wishes, Andrew
Hello and welcome. From your wording I would suggest it is not a choice... you did not choose to be straight... our emotions just are... gay and lesbian people were always around, in all cultures... in other cultures they were even revered as internediaries... we can just try to follow what we think makes us happy.... best wishes (*hug*)(*hug*)(&&&)(&&&) I'd suggest you read interesting threads... take part in threads, or open threads of your own... and communicate with others via wall messages...
I wish there were more mothers like you! (!) Congratulations and welcome to EC! It's a pleasure to meet you. :smilewave :welcome:
Hi Caitlynn Welcome to EC! It's so awesome to have parents like you supporting and loving theirs kids fully. Even thought Ashton's Dad might not be on board with this for now just keep doing what you are doing. I am pretty sure you can find support from other parents on EC who can relate. Welcom again :smilewave
Hi Caitlynn Just wanted to say you sound like you have been brilliant. Hopefully Ashton's Dad just needs time to get his head round things.
