You might not be very outgoing, but a good listener... supportive... creative... You could tell them that being gay is not a choice... This has got to do with self confidence. Accept that you are a nice human being and its your birthright to be together with other nice beings. I'd say accept them, maybe help out a bit, but enjoy. Well you could start to live your life for yourself... and for your girlfriend... your joy should show up in quite a few parts of your life... Sometimes people come around eventually.
