I'm a 58 year old straight man who is entering a new family with some very sweet lesbian daughters. Though I am LGBT friendly, and have been an advocate for same rights and privileges all my adult life, my actual experience with members of the gay community is very modest. And so, my goal here is not to trip over my own admitted inexperience and say, react, or inadvertently offend two women who might very well become my daughters someday. So please forgive any faux pax you may see coming from me, and by all means call me on them when you do... I hope to learn a lot here. Jim
Awesome to have you here on EC, Jim! It's wonderful that you've taken the initiative. Feel free to browse through the forums for information and/or if you've got any questions, post 'em in the appropriate forums or better yet, reach out to any EC member. Anyone will be happy to answer or share an experience. Just a little tip before you begin: Remember that the LGBT community is diverse and interrelated in many ways so be sure to always take a break in between gathering information. In this way, you'll allow yourself to digest everything before continuing. Anyway, I hope you have great experience here and I wish you luck with your research. :3 Take care!, -MvH.
