Hi. So I joined this site today for advice on how I should tell my dad (preacher) about myself. I keep trying to but if I even bring up LGBT it's an automatic lecture. Help me please!

I don't really know because I'm not in that situation.. what's your dad's take on lgbt?
All I can say is that if you approach him with the issue, say everything that's weighing on your heart and you can't go wrong. As your father I think he'll understand. And it's nice to meet ya!(!)(!)(!)

Well my dad's take on LGBT would be we are all going to burn in hell and "if one of my kids turn out gay they won't live under my roof"

    Yowch...

I know how that feels. It's funny (not actually funny), my little brother once said "If you were gay I'd disown you." Well, thanks brother. I'm pretty sure my parents would too.

Just wait until I come out to them as trans (which is, in their opinion, worse than gayness).

It can be really hard with family, especially stubborn ones with very staunch convictions. If you ever need anyone to talk to, I'm open and here for you.

Welcome to EC by the way. I hope you find the support you're looking for.

A good starting place would be the "Coming Out" section, there's lots of good advice and stories there.

    Cheers.

I'm sorry to hear your dad's opinion on lgbt. Maybe you should start by telling another more understanding family member. And also did you get my friend request XD
