Hi everyone! :smilewave My name is amanda, and i'm a 20-year-old cisgender female from the US. I'm currently studying public health in Gaborone, Botswana. Like many others on this site, i came from an extremely conservative religious background; my parents are conservadox Jews. Now that i'm 8,000 miles from home, i can finally start to explore my sexuality here in Gabs. (Ironically, though, gay sex here is illegal, on par with bestiality.) Previously, i have always identified as asexual. I've known for years that i'm not really attracted to men, but only recently have i come to accept the fact that i am attracted to other women. I have come out in private to a few very close friends, but most people know me as asexual, or at least as one of the least promiscuous people at any given college party. Although my internet connection is pretty spotty here, i'm hoping to use this site for support and advice, and i'll do my best to return the favor with whatever limited wisdom i've acquired. I look forward to getting to know some of you guys! Ke itumelela go go itse! (It's a pleasure to meet you!) P.S. On a different note, i recently watched the movie "La Vie d'Adele," AKA "Blue is the Warmest Color," and i really enjoyed it. Any recommendations for books or movies with lesbian characters would be much appreciated! :icon_bigg
Welcome. I came from a pretty religious household, myself (my mother was, and still is, a JW), so I know how difficult that can be.
Hello & welcome to the site! I'm sure that you'll find the support that you're looking for here, there are a lot of great people who are willing to help!
