Hello my name is Chris. I came to this website after seeing it once or twice on google as I was looking for information. One night while I was really depressed and didn't know where to turn, I made an account here and posted my first post, kind of blabbering about what was going on with my life and, to my surprise, someone actually responded! (I'm not changing the run-on! :eusa_danc ) Anywho, I'm 23 and gay, and I've just recently (mostly) come out of the closet. It was a secret for 10-ish years, and I first told people this past May. I've got some religious facebook friends and family that I barely talk to still to come out to. However, I've told my closest friends and parents, which I think was the hardest thing I've ever had to do, but I did it! Being on this forum for a week or two thus far has opened my eyes to not only my sexuality, but also to the different denominations there are. I always knew I was gay so I find it fascinating and courageous to see what other people are/are going through. Regardless of if we're gay, bi, lesbian, trans, or whatever in between, we can all relate to one another in some way, and I think it's a wonderful thing. It's one site in a sea of scary internet that I actually feel safe on. I've told a friend or two about the website as well, which I think can benefit them if they ever feel low or don't know where to turn. I'm very open to chat, if anyone is interested. Have a good one.

Hey man, I joined the site earlier this week. I definitely understand what you're going through. Coming out to my closest friends and to my mom was insanely difficult. I've not told my dad yet (just not sure how that's going to go) but anyway, just thought I'd say hello.

Welcome To EC, Chris! Glad you are with us. Please don't, it's what makes you unique! Absolutely, I'm sure we all can relate. Even if people were accepting and supportive and we got positive responses, the anxiety/fear beforehand is often indescribable. That's exactly why I signed up. Don't know where I would be in my journey without this site. We'll be glad to have your friends with us, also. I'm looking to add new friends to my (very narrow) circle.
