Hi everyone! A little about myself: a student, a writer, a board sports enthusiast, a music lover, a late bloomer, and I like the umbrella term "queer" because nothing else seems to fit

I came out to my parents on my birthday last week and although they seem to have filed it under "not our business, so let's not talk about it," they're generally supportive and loving people and are probably just mulling it over. I'm privileged in the sense that I live in a relatively liberal place where my friends, and most people I find myself associating with, don't give a rat's ass about your sexuality and "coming out" isn't necessary in most cases.

I think, emotionally, my biggest problem is self-esteem because I've never actually so much as hold hands, kiss, or seriously date someone. Of course, this is probably due to the fact of being confused about my orientation for most of my life... But anyway, it's taking a toll on my mental health because I'm almost graduating university so it feels like I won't get a chance to meet people and be social after graduation. I'm not a partier but I do meet people and socialize fairly regularly. Sometimes I develop the feels, but it is ALWAYS unreciprocated :/

    Anyway, lovely to meet y'all!!

I've been curious about queer identification but you saying it's an umbrella term really helps a lot. Now I view it like two-spirit but correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm super jelly of your not out right judgemental parents & open environment :thumbsup::thumbsup:
But happy as hell that there are situations like that.

Hope you love this site as much as I do (*hug*)

Hey, welcome on EC ^^ I hope you'll have a nice time here, I'm quite new too and I found it useful already.

And I'm sure you'll find the right person in time. I'm facing the same kind of worry, but I guess if everybody else has managed somehow, we will too.

Hi Beowoolf... Nice to meet you! What you say about that word makes sense. I've just never liked using it in any context... but now that I'm IN the LGBT community... we'll see
