Hello, Empty Closets community! For a few years, now, I have heard of this site, yet it was not until very recently (just two days ago) that I decided to make my account on here. I do not have any form of LGBTQ support outside of the Internet, so I feel that this shall suffice, for now. You may be wondering: what exactly are my interests? I do have some minor, frivolous interests such as anime; however, I love broad, deep academic subjects such as psychology, sociology, anthropology, history (only obscure histories, such as precolonial Africa as one prime example), foreign languages, you name it. I am an avid reader who prefers to read nonfiction, but will read fiction if it is relevant and easy to relate to. I frequently write poetry and philosophical works, as well as paint and draw on occasion, so I have a creative side to me, as well. I would like to tell the EC community right off the bat that I am a "double rainbow:" I am not only queer/lesbian, but I am autistic. More specifically, I have Asperger's syndrome, which is now classified as Level 1 Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Contrary to what the mainstream media may like people to believe, it is not a life-threatening illness of any sort; it is simply a neurobiological variation that makes my brain work differently than someone who is not autistic. Because I am autistic, I have difficulty with social interaction and I also can be extremely sensitive to loud noises-- hence why, when I come out to my family, I probably won't attend many if any local pride events. As you can see from my profile picture and signature, I am a massive fan of Tupac Amaru Shakur. I love all genres of music except country, but hip-hop, particularly the work of 2pac, holds a special place in my heart and soul; it is much of his music that inspires so many of my poems. It is his music that echoes so many of my deepest burning thoughts and desires and has yet at once influenced much of my political thought. He is certainly not the only musician that I like, but I do hold him in high esteem. He is up there with so many others. I hope to make myself welcome here!
