Very very newly out

Thought I had posted this (am new to using this type of forum) but can't find it - so here we go. I began coming out to a few trusted people on last Friday.

I am a late in life lesbian. VERY late in life. I am 68. Never married - I think deep down I always knew who I am and pulled out of relationships with men if they had any chance of looking like they might lead to marriage.

I am gradually coming out to a few people - first a few friends from grad school who I knew were out and gay. (I went to grad school late in life - about 20 years ago). Yesterday I attended a support group for veterans at my local VA hospital. They are a very affirming place and the group was amazing. I may start going there just to talk things out to a therapist as I figure out my new life.

Next month I have an MD appointment and I will come out to her also.

I have also come out to the pastor of my Episcopal church - he congratulated me for my courage, said he would do anything he could to help, and gave me a hug. We are meeting next week. I also came out to a friend who I knew would understand because she has a transgender daughter.

I am taking this gradually, but have realized I can't lie anymore. And let's face it at 68 it isn't going to mean a major change in my life style!

Would I like to find someone to love so I can "officially" say I am a lesbian (yeah being kinda discrete here-lol)? yeah, sure, but I know not to push it. Things will happen when I am ready.
