Hello from 18 year old freshman at College. I'm Gay but I'm not out. I just joined so Hello- Empycloset
Hi there, and welcome to Empty Closets! You'll find that Empty Closets is a great place to be yourself, and to ask for support, and have a few questions answered for whenever you feel ready to ask. Welcome aboard.
I have only recently accepted that I'm gay which why I joined. I have greatly desired a boyfriend for sometime. I'm currently at a huge liberal college campus, so there thousands of gay people, So there are plenty of opportunities for me, but I just don't know to take of advantage of that.
Hey KingofScrubs, Your campus almost certainly has an LGBTQ club or Gay-Straight Alliance. You could start to interact with the LGBTQ community on campus by checking that out.
I have looked into that, but I'm shy, I can't just go up to a group of people and say I'm gay. I don't have that type of courage. The perfect scenario for me is that a gay guy (and hopefully someone I like), subtly picks up on it and approaches but that feels unrealistic.
If you go to the LGBT club on campus, you won't have to tell anyone anything until you are comfortable. It's ok to be shy, and you won't be the only shy person there. Being around other gay people will allow you to interact with other people who understand you. Is there anyone on campus who you are out to? Having a supportive friend who is willing to accompany you can help build your courage.
