I guess I'll go ahead and introduce myself a little. I am 30 years old and a trans lesbian. I've known all my life, at least a little, I guess, but I've only come to accept it within the last couple of months. I live a thousand miles away from where I grew up, with my wife and her family who I'm not out to yet but who based on past experiences probably won't understand or support me. I am a massive Trekkie (yes, that's the correct term; Trekker always sounded weird to me lol). I love to read and write and watch Castle or Gilmore Girls. I'm looking to meet new people and make new friends to help me along the way to living fully as who I really am. Thanks!
Hi there. I'm Cam. Welcome to EC. The people here are friendly and supportive and it's a great place to talk to people from the whole rainbow spectrum and discover who you are in a safe and accepting environment. Which is your favourite Star Trek series?
Heya, welcome! I hope you enjoy your time here and find all the answers to questions you have, and all the support you need and want :3
That would have to be DS9. It's just a darker, grittier Trek. The episode, "In the Pale Moonlight," where Sisko does some very bad things for good reasons, has to be one of the all-time best Star Trek episodes. Voyager is pretty good, too, especially the later seasons.
Yes, another Trekkie! I grew up watching Voyager. DS9 and Voyager are my favourite series, because of the darker episodes. Like they say in The Maquis pt. 2: "It's easy to be a saint in paradise", but being far away from (the core of) the federation, humanity shows its darker side, often for the better. I've seen every series at least once, even the animated series. Anyway, welcome to EC. Like Cam said, we have people from all over the rainbow spectrum who are very friendly and supportive. If you have any questions, just let me know ^_^
Thanks for the warm welcome! And I'm glad to meet some other Trekkies. I think for me Trek has always been at its best when it's about taking the characters outside of their comfort zones. DS9 and Voyager do that really well. Star Trek Beyond does it well, too. I never got into Enterprise much. TOS I prefer the movies to the series.
I agree, Voyager and DS9 took place far away from the core of the federation where it wasn't always possible or incredibly hard to take the moral high ground. To me they felt far more human than the other series. Sadly Enterprise was cancelled when it started to become good. I appreciate TOS for it's historic value. At the time it was an incredibly progressive show.
