Hi everyone! This is my introductory post; it’s fairly hard to think exactly what to say here to give you a brief ‘summary’ of who I am. My names’s Adam, I’m 22 years old and I live in rural South Australia. I’m gay and currently not out to anyone (except a small number of other gay people, so not sure if that really counts, lol!). I’ve basically been questioning my sexual orientation since around the time i was 14 or 15 years old. At first I assumed I might be bisexual, but by the time I was around 19 years old, I realised that any attraction to women just wasn’t there for me, so I knew that I was gay. Between that time and December 2009, I was fairly ‘happy’ with being closeted. Well, perhaps ‘happy’ is the wrong term, as I don’t think anyone can be truly happy when they’re closeted. However, I had resigned myself to living that sort of double life. Not sure if there was any one particular event that made me determined to come out, but last December I made the decision that I would at some stage in the future come out. Whilst I have known for sometime (if I was being really honest with myself) that I am gay, for the first time, in the last few months I have been able to actually, even though only to myself, identity as a gay man (I have heard that this is the first step to coming out). I went searching the internet for resources regarding coming out and found Empty Closets. I have been lurking around here for some time and have found reading other member’s stories and the advice given really helpful in giving myself more confidence in embarking on coming out at some point in the future. So I thought I might as well join and take part in the Empty Closets community. Not sure what else to say in this introductory post really, so I’ll leave it at that. Sorry, if this has been a really long introductory post, I'm a fairly wordy person, so other people have told me! Adam
hi Adam! welcome to the site! I lurked around reading stuff for a while before joining too. I think that counts.
Hey, welcome. If you read any of my threads, you'll see how long it took me to arrive at the point your are. As far as I'm concerned, you're ahead of the game. :icon_bigg I hope you find the support you're looking for here. There are great people in EC.\ Peace,
Welcome to EC Adam! It's so good to see another South Australian on here. There aren't a lot of us, so the more the merrier!
Hi Adam - welcome to EC! I think I've proven beyond a doubt that I'm a wordy person too, so between the two of us we should be able to use up most of the memory on the EC server! Seriously if there is anything I can do to help you along the way, just ask!
Hi Adam and welcome to EC. I'm glad you've found the site helpful so far, and I'm glad you've decided to join and participate. Good luck with your coming out.
