I finally registered! I've been lurking on EC since late 2007/early 2008 but never got around to registering. :bang: I usually just read or search for posts on forums and fit the advice to my own situation, but I seldom post (like, on average less than a post per month). Nevertheless, I must thank everyone here on EC for helping me through my coming out process. The advice you gave are really helpful. I came out to my first friend in Oct 2008 and am now out to my best friends. I also got around to coming out to my dad (well, sort of) before he died of cancer just last october. (I know I'll regret it if I didn't) So, thanks to all and I hope I can offer some decent advice when the occasion arises.

Welcome to EC! It felt like you'd already been here a while... And while I'm sorry to hear that your dad passed away, it's wonderful that you had a chance to tell him the truth about his son while he was still alive - it will mean a lot not having this hanging over you in the coming years.
That's exactly what I thought, so I pushed myself to tell him, though I wasn't quite ready to do so then (even now I'm not out to my family). Better safe than sorry. :icon_wink
