Hi, I found out about this site only yesterday and just thought it would be a good place to come and talk to people. I have not been out for just over a year now. Luckily for me, my mom was very understanding about it and took it in her stride. My dad was a bit strange with it at first but learned to accept it. Unfortunately my little sister is uneasy about it and refuses point blank to talk about it, sometimes using my sexuality as a way of putting me down. But 2 out of 3 ain't bad I guess. My friends have possibly been my rocks, and were very understanding and supported me when I was in the process of going to talk to my parents about it. They themselves are straight but don't treat me any differently to how they did before. Incidentally, as we are now in the process of preparing UCAS portfolios for universities, we have formed a Gay Support Group at our school to help raise awareness, for both gay students and straight students who may have issues regarding themselves or people they know. So that's my backstory, good to meet you all!
Hi, welcome to EC! Good to hear that you have such supportive friends and family! Maybe things will be fine with your sister as well, give her more time! And good luck with the gay support group! I think it's a great idea!! :icon_wink

I'm glad to hear your friends and most of your family have rallied behind you. Incidentally, when you go to uni, your student union will have an LGBT society. So that's nice. Welcome to EC! For some reason, there seems to be a large british population here, but I'm always glad to see another!
