After a couple of months of lurking on this site, I decided it was time to join the conversation. I first came out to one of my best friends at the beginning of June and told my parents a few weeks after that. Since then I've only told a couple other friends, but I'm to the point where I'm done hiding who I am and ready to mention it in conversation, regardless of if there's a good segue or not. I'm finishing up my Master's degree now, so I'm a bit of a late bloomer I guess. Let's just say pretending to be something I wasn't for ~11 years got to be too much and I'm done caring about how others will react. I went to my university's GLBT organization's first meeting last week (couldn't go this week being bed-ridden with a cold). EC has definitely been a help to me in the coming out process and I hope the future postings I add might be able to help others as well with their struggles. Even just writing this feels unbelievably amazing (now, if I can just get the focus to write my damn thesis...). Glad to be here finally!
