another newbie :)

hello

I went to my first PFLAG meeting this weekend, and a new friend from there suggested I come to this website. I am 24 and I have spent approximately the last 11 years as a part of first Exodus and then Courage, but then in January I was almost hospitalized (I was suicidal) and I finally realized that I am going to have to accept who I am if I want to survive. I just can't fight anymore, and since I do want to survive... well, here I am.

I've been identifying the people in my life who would be supportive, since I'm a part of the arts community there are a few, but most of my contacts are in my Church - and most of those are the more conservative people in my Church. However, I have discovered that a few of my fellow choir members are supportive, as is my youth pastor, so I am grateful for that.

Anyway, I'm happy to be here and hope that I can meet some other people who have been through or who are going through this process that I am going through now.
