Hi everyone. Been browsing the forums for a while, decided to join and share my story in the support forums. Registering for this site marks the first time I have been open with another human being about my sexuality. I am not ready to be open yet, and I am one of those guys who doesn't fit the gay stereotypes (which I feel makes it harder for me to be honest...I could get away with living a lie my entire life, and virtually nobody would question it). I sing, play piano, love programming in computers, hack video games, study politics and economics, and I honestly don't know what I would do without the internet...lol.
:smilewave and welcome to EC. What do you mean your not stereotypical gay? I'm a little confused here. But let me tell you this. Neither am I. If we were to meet for the first time, you'd think I'm straight. It was quite a bit of a shock to my friends when they did find out I was gay. Still I don't act like all the others and according to my friends that's what they liked about me LOL
Thanks for all the welcomes everyone! I think I indireclty answered that question in my topic you responded to lol :icon_bigg. Thanks btw for your advice. Its nice to be able to relate to someone. I basically mean exactly what you just said. I am a music minor, and I am in the choir. When I introduced myself to another musician, he asked what instrument I played. I said voice. He said in shock "Really? Most straight guys are instrumentalists, not vocalists! Nice to meet you haha." (Oh the irony) Funny thing is he knew nothing about me. I didn't do anything other than act like myself and say hello. And I know what you mean. I think my friends would have the same reaction.
Not to stereotype, but when I was at Oberlin, it was certainly true that an overwhelming majority of the male voice majors were gay (closeted or otherwise.) But... that said, I think you'll be really surprised at the diversity in gay men. That's because... the only ones you *know* are gay are the ones that are obvious. The rest just go about doing their thing and have a similar experience with people going "Oh! You're gay? I had no idea."
Hi and welcome to EC! :smilewave I hope you'll like it here and remember, the coming out process doesn't need to be rushed. Everyone's ready at their own pace.
Hello moto! I can understand not fitting into the gay stereotypes. I love anime, fighting games, and just being geeky. If you met me you'd never know I was gay unless you asked! I'm more of along the lines of acting and providing voices but can't sing to save my life!
