Hey guys! First off, I'd like to say I look forward to meeting new people on these forums; especially since I've been working on coming out on my own and I'm seeking a support group of individuals who understand exactly what I feel. My straight friends help me too, but I seek further connectedness and advice. My name is Jacob, I'm 20 years old and I am recently out since June of this past year! I first told my parents (which was the hardest thing to do in my whole life only because I felt I had let them down knowing I was the only man to carry on the family name and I felt like I wasn't meeting their expectations). Yet, they were nonchalantly fine with my decisions. Now, more recently I have let a bunch of my good friends know. The hardest part about my story came around February of this year when I met this amazing guy who was going to school with me at USF (my university). He was so handsome and just perfect for me! Unfortunately, I quickly figured out he was straight and that also he had got back with his ex-girlfriend! I had a hard few months after that because I never told him I was gay or that I liked him and we kept hanging out months after. Now, he knows both things and he is still one of my best friends. However, I am still a lonely person, and I feel I will be for a little while longer. This is because I plan on moving to Germany to finish my degree and pursue an automotive design career. But I feel it will be a couple of years longer before I can go. Therefore, I have put love on the back-burner even though I truly wish to seek it!!! In the mean time, I spend my time doing lots of schoolwork and hanging out with friends...and if you were possibly wondering.....Ja, ich kann Deutsch sprechen und habe ich es fuer 6 Jahren gesprochen! Welcome to EC. I think you will find all of the support you are looking for right here. Everyone on this site is really great about that. It's almost like a big family; however cheasey that may sound.
