A little late, considering I've already done some posting today, but I'm new to the forum as of today, so hello all. I'm a 23 year old headed all the way to Australia for medical school starting 2013 and couldn't be more excited. I'm into trying new foods, love video games, and playing soccer (though it's been a while). I came out to myself in middle school after years of being picked on and called gay before I even knew what the word meant. Now, I'm pretty much out to all of my close friends and a good part of my extended family. I plan to...retell my parents when I leave for school (it's a weird story..). Anyway, I hope to get to know a lot of you better and also would love to offer any advice or support that I can while gaining some along the way.
Welcome, oh and you'll find the southern hemisphere allot different to the northern hemisphere. And Australia! WOW, nice one dude! Just be prepared to be allot warmer than the summers you know, as well as the winter, it isn't as cold as the northern hemisphere, but depending if you are in a coastal area or inland, the cold is a dry coldness that seeps into your bones. The coastal areas can be cold too, but misty cold, a wet cold, a warmer cold. I know this cause Australia's weather is allot like Southern African weather, and you are bound to walk into allot of South Africans and Namibians there.
Thanks for the warm welcome from everyone! The school I'll be going to is in Brisbane, so I guess I'll be expecting more coastal weather. I LOVE accents of all kinds, so hearing South African ones along with the Aussie accents should be really nice. Of course, I always unintentionally do this thing where I start imitating accents without realizing it so that should be a disaster lol.. You seem to already know a bit about Australia. Any idea what the LGBT community is like there, especially in Brisbane?
